Process Post #4

My group has officially finished our inquiry project! We took some time last week to put all of our separate parts together and make sure that all information flows well together.

We also reviewed the finished project as a group to make sure that all content was consistent, visually engaging, and aligned with the learning objectives we wanted to achieve.  Doing a group project in an online course is super tricky, but I think we did a really great job working together, considering most of the work was done virtually.

Throughout the project, we communicated regularly, shared feedback on each other’s work, and worked through challenges as they came up.  This project also gave me a greater appreciation for the amount of planning and work that goes into creating effective online learning experiences. Looking back over the past few weeks of this project, I am super grateful for my amazing group partners who helped make the completion of this project super seamless.

Process Post #3

As of today, I’ve finished writing my portion of our inquiry project. The plan is for my group to meet today and start putting our infographic together. The focus will mostly be on design and making sure that all information flows well together.

One thing we’ve discussed in this course is how design choices can influence learning, so we’re aiming to create something that is clear and engaging. This connects to learning outcomes around critically evaluating design, using digital tools effectively, and designing for diverse learners in online environments.

Hopefully, by the end of today’s meeting, we’ll have a polished final product that effectively communicates our inquiry findings while reflecting the principles we’ve explored throughout the course.

Process Post #2

This week, my group is focusing on creating the actual infographic for our Inquiry Project. After spending time researching our topic and gathering sources, we are now working on organizing that information into a visual format.

We’ve split the infographic into sections and assigned each person specific content to work on. Our main goal is to have all of the written content finished by the end of the week. Once the written component of our project is finished, our group will start to think about and work on the design and visuals of the infographic. I think one challenge we might encounter at the end of the week will be ensuring that the written work we’ve worked on separately is cohesive and works well together. However, with a few tweaks, I don’t think that it’ll be an issue.

Overall, I think if our group gets the bulk of the project done this week, we’ll be ready to submit soon with a little extra time to spare.

Inquiry Project – Progress Post #1

Inquiry Project – Process Post

For our inquiry project, my group is exploring the topic of gamification and engagement in online learning. Specifically, we are investigating whether game-based learning, such as points, rewards, challenges, and interactive activities, can improve student engagement and knowledge retention in online courses. We are also interested in learning whether these strategies genuinely improve learning outcomes or if they only make learning more enjoyable.

So far, our group has completed our project proposal and met a few times to talk about the start of our project. During our meetings, we worked on narrowing our topic, finding key questions we want to answer, and brainstorming how we want to organize our research into an infographic. We decided that an infographic would be an effective way to communicate information because it allows us to combine text, visuals, statistics, and graphics in a format that is easy to understand and engaging for viewers.

Over the next week, we want to start working on the main components of the project. This will include organizing our research into a shared Google Doc, finding the most relevant information, and designing the layout of our infographic in Canva.

Overall, the start of our inquiry project is going smoothly, but there is still lots to work on.
